Explore Baltimore and Washington, D.C.

UMBC's 500-acre campus is just 10 minutes south of Baltimore, 45 minutes from Washington D.C., adjacent to the finest bike trails in Maryland, an hour from the mountains, and two hours from the eastern shore and beaches. Students and visitors have the unlimited resources of two major metropolitan areas at their fingertips.

No Car? No Problem

UMBC makes it easy for students to get around. If you need a car, you can rent a ZipCar. If you need a bike, there’s a bikeshare on campus. And if you want a quick (and free!) way of getting to downtown Baltimore, simply check umbc.edu/transit/ for up-to-the-minute tracking of its free shuttle lines into the city.

Community Partners

UMBC partners with the Baltimore Collegetown Network, a consortium of 16 colleges and universities that works to enhance the academic, professional and social lives of Baltimore's 100,000 college students.
