Our Response to COVID-19
Our top priority is to support you while keeping you and our community safe and healthy. Here’s a quick glance at how we’re responding to COVID-19:
- Our staff is working remotely, and there are lots of ways to connect with us.
- We’re offering live and on-demand virtual events
- You can still explore campus virtually.
No matter what, we’re #UMBCTogether.
UMBC is Test-Optional for 2021 and 2022
Due to the circumstances prompted by the COVID-19 pandemic, UMBC has adopted a test-optional admission program for the 2021 and 2022 application cycles. If you have any test scores (ACT, SAT, AP, IB, etc.) you feel are good indicators of your academic ability, we invite you to send those to us. If you do not have those scores or do not feel they are good indicators of your academic ability, you will not be penalized if you choose not to submit them.
“UMBC is a place where the student experience is about finding your passion and exploring issues that matter, in the classroom and the community.”
— Princeton Review

UMBC ranks in the top ten on the closely watched Most Innovative Schools list for “making the most promising innovative improvements in curriculum, faculty, students, and campus life.” And for another consecutive year, UMBC tops the list for an “unusually strong commitment to undergraduate teaching,” as one of the nation’s top universities overall on the Best National Universities list.
