Start Your Journey

Great things happen when you’re part of a community that believes in you.

First-Year Students

Apply as a First-Year Student if you have or are currently earning your high school diploma or GED but have not earned college credits AFTER earning your diploma or GED.

Transfer Students

Apply as a Transfer Student if you have completed college-level coursework at an institution of higher education after receiving a high school diploma or a GED.

International Students

Apply as an international student if you will need a non-immigrant visa to study and live in the United States.

Returning Students

Did you complete two or more regular semesters at UMBC as a degree-seeking undergraduate? Let’s get you what you need to finish.

Admitted Students

Welcome to UMBC! You may still have a few things to square away before you’re a bonafide Retriever. We'll guide you through the final steps and answer your "what's next" questions.

Find Your Path

As an Honors University in Maryland, we’re known for helping our students land the careers they want. But you don’t have to take our word for it. The Boston Globe calls us a “successful model of how to educate a diverse group of students and send them on to promising careers.”
