Center for Women in Technology
The Center for Women Technology (CWIT) empowers and prepares our scholars to be change agents in creating technology workplaces that are diverse, equitable, and inclusive.
Cyber Scholars
Closely aligned with CWIT, Cyber Scholars prepares the next generation of cybersecurity professionals and enables success for women and other underrepresented groups in technology education and careers.
Humanities Scholars
A program for talented students with strong intellectual abilities who are passionate about pursuing the study of literature, history, philosophy, language, and culture. You'll explore human cultural practices and products from a multitude of perspectives.
Linehan Artist Scholars
A creative community for talented students in performing and visual arts who are serious about pursuing their art in a university setting and preparing for a creative career.
Meyerhoff Scholars
A rigorous but deeply supportive community of scholars in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics with a track record of leadership nationwide to increase diversity in these fields.
Sherman Teacher Scholars
A program preparing teachers to thrive in urban, high-needs schools. Scholars in early childhood and elementary education prepare to be experts in teaching and integrating STEM subject areas, while secondary candidates become experts in teaching a STEM discipline.
Sondheim Public Affairs Scholars
A program that supports talented undergraduates aspiring to careers in a wide variety of public service fields, including government, policy, law, non-profit leadership, education, healthcare, and environmental sustainability.
Earn a Four-Year Scholarship
When you apply for a scholars program, you’ll be considered for a four-year scholarship award of up to $15,000 for in-state students, or of up to $22,000 for out-of-state students, which often covers the greater part of the cost of attendance at UMBC.

Living-Learning Communities
Our ten Living-Learning Communities (LLCs for short) are designed to complement and extend classroom experiences and build tight-knit communities.
The Honors College and several of the Scholars Programs offer priority acceptance to live in LLCs.
