This event is designed to complement our more general Black & Gold information sessions and campus tours (separate registration required), but can also be completed as a standalone experience.

Retriever Day 2025

Join us on campus to find out what it means to be a Retriever! Attendees will learn about the first-year or transfer admissions process, financial aid and scholarships, campus resources and student organizations, the Honors College and Scholars Programs, and more. You will also have the chance to connect with Deans and faculty, tour campus with current students, and explore your next steps.

Life as a Retriever

Experience life as a UMBC Retriever for a day! Connect with current students, explore campus resources, attend sessions of interest to you, take a campus tour, and enjoy a discounted lunch in our dining hall. Student attendees will also have the chance to attend a mock course led by our innovative faculty, while guests can learn helpful college application and admissions tips from our staff.

*Please note that this event is for prospective first-year students only. Prospective transfer students are encouraged to join us at the October 25th Retriever Day and/or our November 13th Transfer Open House.

UMBC Piano Day

The UMBC Department of Music invites prospective students to the 2025 Annual UMBC Piano Day! This event is FREE and open to all pianists, friends, family, and colleagues.

Meet our piano faculty, perform in or observe masterclasses, and hear faculty and students perform in our Linehan Concert Hall. We look forward to having you with us for a day of music, food, fun, and all things piano!

Prospective Theatre Student Visit Day

The UMBC Theatre Department is pleased to welcome high school and transfer students interested in experiencing life as a Theatre major at UMBC!

Included in the Day:

  • An information session with Eve Muson, Chair of Theatre Department.
  • An exclusive backstage tour of our facilities in the Performing Arts and Humanities Building led by Professor Adam Mendelson.
  • FREE ticket(s) to that day’s 2pm performance of Shakespeare in Harlem, by Langston Hughes, adapted and directed by Gerrad Alex Taylor.
  • A talkback with the cast and director post-show.

Parents and High School Teachers are welcome and encouraged to join for all or part of the day.

Dance Visit Day

The UMBC Dance Department is pleased to invite high school seniors and transfer students interested in pursuing dance study as a major or minor to experience the life of a dance student at UMBC. Come and take dance classes from our instructors. Meet our dance students. Discover our programs and scholarship opportunities. Enjoy free lunch in the Dining Hall with our current students.

UMBC Brass Day

The UMBC Department of Music invites you to the 2025 Annual UMBC Brass Day!

This event is FREE and open to all brass players, friends, family, and colleagues.

Participants will have the opportunity to meet brass faculty, tour our facilities, attend masterclasses, and perform with the brass faculty and current UMBC students in the incredible Earl and Darielle Linehan Concert Hall!

There will be plenty of music, food, fun, and all things brass!
